Pedo

My uncle (Aurelia Gasperini's younger brother), Peter Pedo opened a grocery store in Stambaugh in 1941 in the Gasperini building, which he operated until 1965.

 The photo to the left is an ad for the store opening.  The photo below right is of Peter and his wife, Marie Andersen in 1960 on their 25th wedding anniversary.  Marie was a charter member of the Genealogy Society and a long-time volunteer at the museum.  She had been community and church volunteer all of her life; she also ran a sewing shop out of her house for decades.  She died Feb. 1, 2008 at age 91.

 They had two daughters, Katherine (married to Ward Bond of Stambaugh) and Susan (married to John Cocco of Iron River) and now living her parents' house at 215 Fifth (now Evergreen) St.

Another Pedo who came to Iron County from Vulcan in the 1920's was Otto Pedo.  He married Hilma Kangas.  They had one daughter, Gail.
